At the Temple Ner Simcha Religious School, we seek to instill a love of Judaism and Jewish community. Our curriculum is an immersive and hands-on look at Torah as well as Jewish values, tradition, prayers, and culture. We will explore the joy and meaning found in major holidays and Jewish life cycle events as well as everyday Jewish life. Bar/bat mitzvah candidates will receive one-on-one sessions with the Educational Director and Rabbi Barclay to further prepare their Torah portion and better understand the meaning of their upcoming ceremony.
Additionally, we offer a post-bar/bat mitzvah program which allows students to return as TAs to continue their education and stay involved in the community. In addition to assisting teachers in the classroom, they will have special sessions with Rabbi Barclay and faculty during which they will look more deeply into Jewish tradition and better understand their role as young Jewish adults.
The following are requirements for students in all levels of the TNS Religious School:

-
Student attendance once a week.
-
Family attendance at a minimum of two Friday night Shabbat services per month.
-
Family attendance at High Holiday services.
Temple Ner Simcha is committed to never forcing any Jew to “pay to pray." We are entirely donation based and have no obligatory membership dues or financial cost for High Holiday tickets. Similarly, our community and Rabbi find it profoundly sad that so many Jewish families are unable educate their children and help them celebrate the bar/bat mitzvah rite of passage because it is too expensive. For this reason, we have created the TNS Religious School (serving students K-8th grade), with NO mandatory tuition for our program, so that lack of funds will no longer be an obstacle that prevents a young Jew from furthering their education and fully participating in their community.
It is our hope that our families will choose to financially support the Religious School through voluntary donations and that each family will become active in the TNS community.
The Religious School will meet weekly on Mondays (4:30pm-6:00pm). The first day of school will be October 17th. We will meet in the TNS facilities.
We invite you and your family to participate in this program by registering through the link found on this page.
