The word "Hannukah" means "dedication". As children we think Hannukah is about giving gifts. Many adults then grow up to believe that it is an unimportant holiday based on a military victory. But the reality is that it is a deeply mystical holiday that is not only important to our Sages but actually has roots and is considered a Biblical holiday. At it's essence it is about the relationship of light and darkness; of how we wage war and how we sustain peace...in the world and in our personal lives.
